Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) and the State of Illinois recently announced the 2024-25 Illinois State Scholars, "the best and the brightest" of Illinois
high school seniors in the Class of 2024 based on exemplary college assessment examination scores and record of high school achievement. United High School had two seniors awarded with this recognition. We would like to congratulate Landon Burns and Kayelee Stockdale on receiving this prestigious award.
The 2023 Wellness Day at United High School (December 1) was very fun this year. Be sure to ask your student about their experience. We are in the process of collecting feedback from staff and students to plan for next year! We want to thank YES System of Care and Bridgeway for the grant money that allowed us to have the main guest speaker (Melvin Adams), as well as some supplies for the wellness kits. We also want to thank ROE 33 for the supplies for wellness kits.
The 24-25 FAFSA is not yet available, but it should be available at studentaid.gov in late December. It has to be available by January 1. If you have a senior student this year, please watch for this announcement, and complete the FAFSA as soon after it opens as possible.
United High School’s Students of the Month for November are Senior, Rozalynn; Junior, Elliott; Sophomore, Rhiannon; and Freshman, Bryson. Rozalynn was nominated by Mrs. Carter in recognition of her positive and upbeat attitude. Mrs. Carter says that Rozalynn represents all of the UHS Core Values - “Empathy, Pride, Integrity, Commitment and Family” because she works hard and helps others succeed as well. Elliott was nominated by Ms. Sarver due to his display of the UHS Core Values of “Family, Commitment, and Integrity." Ms. Sarver says that Elliott is a student who is helpful and respectful, and he is a great leader who is always willing to help others. Rhiannon was nominated by Mrs. Menge for consistently putting forth her best effort as well as being a kind person and fantastic lab partner. Because of these attributes and the fact that Rhiannon is a positive role model, she personifies the UHS Core Values of “Commitment and Integrity”. Bryson was nominated by Mrs. Keith in recognition of his wanting to be successful and doing what it takes to be just that. Bryson represents the "Commitment" Core Value for UHS because of his drive and determination as well as his helpful attitude in class. Congratulations to these students! Each student will receive a gift certificate good for 1 drink at Dame Fine Coffee! Thank you Dame Fine Coffee for sponsoring this program!
