Today the United Small Business class competed against 20 other teams in a business simulation, put on by Junior Achievement. Three teams represented United today: Carson Horner and Colton Gosney; Mason Giddings, Ty Lafferty, and Tanner Rogers and Tony Rodriguez, Chris Rodriguez, and Derrick Sargeant. The top two teams out of 20 advance to the scholarship round. Carson and Colton placed 2nd in the practice round and then tied for 2nd in the qualifying round, but lost the tie breaker to move on. Most of the teams we competed against have been doing this competition for 20+ years. This was United’s first year and to say we are proud is an understatement!! All eight boys should be really proud!! #BeUnited

United High School’s Students of the Month for February are Senior, Lily; Junior, Vincent; Sophomore, Liberty; and Freshman, Evan. Lily was nominated by Mrs. Burgess and Mrs. Pedigo for being a leader and role model as well as going above and beyond in her classes. They say that Lily represents the UHS Core Values of “Family, Pride, Commitment and Integrity” and is a joy and asset to have in class. Vincent was nominated by Mrs. Wascher due to his display of the UHS Core Values of “Commitment, Integrity and Empathy." Mrs. Wascher says that Vincent is a very polite young man who works hard and is always willing to do extra when a helping hand is needed. Liberty was nominated by Mrs. Burgess for creating so many amazing things in art this year and because she has developed a boldness that has been both impressive and inspiring. Because of these attributes and the fact that she works diligently, Liberty personifies the UHS Core Values of “Pride and Commitment”. Evan was nominated by Mrs. Wascher because he is responsible, kind, and caring. Evan represents the "Empathy, Pride, Integrity, Family, and Commitment" Core Values for UHS because he can always be counted on to lend a helping hand, before being asked.
