United High School is pleased to announce that we have six 2025-26 Illinois State Scholars: Jacob, Rachel, Madilyn, Samira, Leighton and Dylan. Approximately the top ten percent of graduates from approved high schools are announced as State Scholars each year through Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). The 2025-26 year designation given to State Scholars applies to the year students will begin their postsecondary education. The combination of their exemplary college assessment examination scores and record of high school achievement indicates they have high potential for success in college. While the accolade does not have a monetary value, being designated a State Scholar is a prestigious honor for their academic resumes.

Mrs. Horner’s Small Business class participated in a Stock Market Exchange challenge at St. Ambrose University today through Junior Achievement. Students have spent the last 6 weeks learning about stocks and the stock market. Today with over 23 other schools they took part in a 60 day challenge. Each group had $500,000 and each day consisted of just 60 seconds. To say it was the fastest most adrenaline filled hour is an understatement! UHS took 3 teams and all three made money in the stock market! We didn’t win, but we didn’t lose!! The students had an absolute blast. Several left the floor sweating and stressed!! Great experience!! #BeUnited #stockmarketexchange
