
UHS National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive on Friday, April 26th. Students will have the opportunity to sign up in person on Friday, but community members are very much welcome and needed! United High Schoolās Students of the Month for February are Senior, Lily; Junior, Vincent; Sophomore, Liberty; and Freshman, Evan. Lily was nominated by Mrs. Burgess and Mrs. Pedigo for being a leader and role model as well as going above and beyond in her classes. They say that Lily represents the UHS Core Values of āFamily, Pride, Commitment and Integrityā and is a joy and asset to have in class. Vincent was nominated by Mrs. Wascher due to his display of the UHS Core Values of āCommitment, Integrity and Empathy." Mrs. Wascher says that Vincent is a very polite young man who works hard and is always willing to do extra when a helping hand is needed. Liberty was nominated by Mrs. Burgess for creating so many amazing things in art this year and because she has developed a boldness that has been both impressive and inspiring. Because of these attributes and the fact that she works diligently, Liberty personifies the UHS Core Values of āPride and Commitmentā. Evan was nominated by Mrs. Wascher because he is responsible, kind, and caring. Evan represents the "Empathy, Pride, Integrity, Family, and Commitment" Core Values for UHS because he can always be counted on to lend a helping hand, before being asked. Congratulations to these students! Each student will receive a gift certificate good for 1 drink at Dame Fine Coffee! Thank you Dame Fine Coffee for sponsoring this program!

Reminder- There is a dual credit parent meeting this evening in the high school commons at 6 PM. This is a meeting for parents to learn more about dual credit options. A rep from Carl Sandburg College will present this information.

United High School Cheerleading Tryouts will be Friday, March 8th after school. All current 8th grade-Juniors from United and ICS may tryout. Junior High students may ride the bus to the high school. United High School Juniors are taking the Illinois Science Assessment on Monday, March 4, 2024. All juniors need to bring their CHARGED chromebooks to school on Monday in order to take this assessment. Please charge your chromebooks on Sunday!!

Congratulations to Reece Bertelsen and Landon Burns for their IHSA Academic All-State awards! Reece earned all-state recognition and Landon was represented on the honorable mention list.

Scholarship reminder: Seniors (and parents) are encouraged to look at the scholarship page of the UHS Counseling Website weekly for an updated list. Don't forget about the Mellinger Scholarship which is due May 1. All students are encouraged to apply even if they will be using the Sampson Promise Scholarship for Carl Sandburg College.
