United High School’s Students of the Month for December/January are Senior, Rachel; Junior, Jake; Sophomore, DeAngelo; and Freshman, Tate. Rachel was nominated by Ms. Wood in recognition of her incredible leadership skills. Ms. Wood says that Rachel represents the UHS Core Values of ā€œIntegrity and Familyā€ because she always ensures equipment returns to the band room and is a mentor to so many students. Jake was nominated by Mrs. Burgess due to his display of the UHS Core Value of ā€œCommitment." Mrs. Burgess says that Jake is a dedicated student who has grown leaps and bounds in his willingness to try new things. DeAngelo was nominated by Mrs. Carter for being incredibly polite, respectful and helpful. Because of these attributes and the fact that he has a contagious, upbeat personality, he personifies the UHS Core Values of ā€œFamily, Commitment, Integrity, and Empathyā€. Tate was nominated by Mrs. Anderson in recognition of his kindness and respectfulness. Tate represents the "Commitment" Core Value for UHS because of his positive attitude and inspiring ways of saying goodbye when he leaves her classroom. Congratulations to these students! Each student will receive a gift certificate good for 1 drink at Dame Fine Coffee! Thank you Dame Fine Coffee for sponsoring this program!

Dues to severe wind chills and some drifting of mostly country roads, the United School District will not be in session today. We will make determinations on evening activities later in the day. Thank you.

This is a different kind of message than normal.Ā  In this message, I'm announcing that the United School District intends to have school tomorrow Wednesday January 17th, 2024.Ā (we will check in the am however to make sure things haven't worsened) Tomorrow's temperatures return to a better level, but we also know that there are a number of ruralĀ roads that present safety concerns for all travelers, but particularly our buses.Ā  The stacked snow will prevent buses from turn arounds that they normally make and some roads just are unable to be improved at this point in time.Ā  That said, we will have school tomorrow but our buses will not be able to get everywhere that they normally do.Ā  Those of you in remote areas please be patient.Ā  We know this isn't ideal and hopefully we'll soon be back to our normal transportation processes.Ā  If you are able, please let us know if you make other arrangements for your students.Ā Ā  If you simply can't get to a good location and can't get your students to us at the school, please contact your attendance center so that they can account for this absence appropriately.Ā Ā  Huge thanks to those snowplowĀ drivers and highway workers working to get us back on track.Ā  Thank you all for your patience as we work to make the best of this situation.Ā Ā
