This evening's 7th grade boys' basketball game is still a go at ROWVA @ 5:30. This game will take place in their elementary gym.
This evening's high school boys' basketball game vs. Ridgewood has been postponed. The high school wrestling meet @ Galesburg has also been postponed. A makeup date has not yet been determined for either of these events. Updates on other school-related events scheduled for this evening will be posted here once we've received official notification regarding their status.
United Families, due to the extremely cold temperatures, all United schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025.
Tonight's Home Varsity Girls Basketball Game is still a go and scheduled to start at 7:15. The J/V contest originally scheduled for 6:00, has been cancelled.
Tomorrow, Friday, January 17th, will be the last day for the book fair at UJSHS. Thank you to everyone that has supported what has been a very successful book fair so far this week!

In addition to working on SIP data, teachers were challenged to complete a friendly competition of a scavenger hunt! There were laughs, a little sabotage, and finding areas in the building some didn't even know exist! We are ready for a fantastic second semester!
United High School’s Students of the Month for November/December are Senior, Kiley; Junior, Ava; Sophomore, Aurora and Freshman, Carter. Kiley was nominated by Mr. Klimkewicz and Ms. Sarver in recognition of her hard work, kindness and empathy. They say that Kiley represents the UHS Core Values of “Empathy, Commitment, Integrity, and Family.” Ava was nominated by Mr. Klimkewicz due to her exemplification of the UHS Core Values of “Pride and Commitment." He says that Ava has a lot to be proud of in terms of her drive and willingness to succeed. Aurora was nominated by Mr. Ross because she is among the top readers, writers, and thinkers of her entire class and a privilege to have in class. The UHS Core Values that Aurora best represents are “Family and Commitment.” Carter was nominated by Mr. Wascher in recognition of his willingness to pitch in and help out which really makes a difference in the class.. Carter represents the "Empathy, Pride, Commitment and Integrity" Core Values for UHS. Congratulations to these students! Each student will receive a gift certificate good for 1 drink at Dame Fine Coffee! Thank you Dame Fine Coffee for sponsoring this program!
On Tuesday, Delabar CTE came to provide our 8th graders with a career exploration simulation! Students learned about different career clusters, followed by a virtual tour of GAVC. They also participated in a virtual reality career simulation of their choice!

The faculty and staff had some fun this week with a "Hidden Spirit Week." The students didn't know we had themes picked out for each day; it was so fun listening to them try to figure out what was going on (especially on Monday), and they looked forward to seeing what we were doing each day! Monday was "Dress Like Roger Day;" Roger is our Technology Director and has a very specific wardrobe. He was such a good sport when he figured it out! Tuesday was "Dress Like a Coach" (with a whistle around your neck ready to make a call). Wednesday was "College Sweatshirt Day," and Thursday was "Represent your Favorite Holiday." Christmas was very much represented, but we had St. Patricks Day, Halloween, and July 4th represented as well. Friday was "Dress Like the Students and Anything But a Cup." The students picked up on this theme very quickly! :) We will have dress up days for the students during our last week before break so we aren't the only ones having fun!

December brings the end of first semester and the 21st CCLC B.O.O.S.T. Program is available for any and all Homework Help, Monday-Friday before school (7-8AM) and Tuesday and Thursday after school (3-5:30PM). Plus there are a lot of other events happening as well, check them out!!
