West Elementary experienced electrical issues leading to the power being shut down close to 1:30 PM. Students were taken to UIS to use the restroom. Some classes had extra time outside. We were able to turn the power on shortly before dismissal began. Ameren is working this evening in order to make sure we will be ready for school tomorrow. The students handled the situation well, and the staff was excellent in making sure the afternoon finished smoothly.

Parents and Guardians, The gas leak at United Junior Senior High School has been resolved. Ameren has given the all clear for students to re-enter. Students are receiving lunch and school day will end at the normally scheduled time. Thank you for your patience.

Parents and Guardians, The safety of our staff and students is very important. We have decided to evacuate the Junior Senior High School due to a suspected gas leak. Students will be outside of the building until Ameren provides an "all clear" to re-enter. We will keep you updated on this situation as we receive more details. At this time, we are not dismissing school.

Thank you so much for your support of our Literati Book Fair. We went past our goal of selling 500 books and had a total of 635 books sold! Between book fair profit and thoughtful donations we were able to make sure every child from PreK-3rd received a book from the Book Fair. A huge thank you from our teachers for the wishlist books and gift cards. Overall the fundraiser ended up earning $1600 for new books for the library. Let the reading continue- Thank you UWE families!
