Which team will earn the gold? UIS students began the Academic Olympics competition. Our athletes and scholars went head to head in 5 events today. Tomorrow will be another day of competition, and medals will be awarded next week to our gold, silver, and bronze teams.




UIS students who have had no more then 1 office referral and no suspensions will travel to Freedom Roller Rink in Monmouth on Tuesday, May 27th to skate for our 4th quarter behavior incident. If you do not want your child to skate, please use the attached form to opt out.

Some of our 4th graders enjoyed a Meet and Greet with author Alan Gratz after reading one of his books in a novel study.


Fifth grade students enjoyed spending time outside and learning at Blackthorn Hill Nsture Preserve. This field trip was possible through a National Park Trust grant.








United Intermediate 5th graders, Aubrey Willett and Coolidge Willis, were chosen to represent our school at the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Banquet. These exemplary students represent the qualities of good citizens, leaders in the classroom, and kind peers. We are so proud of them.

UIS Students who have had less than two office referrals and no suspensions will have the opportunity to roller skate on Tuesday, May 27th. If you do not want your child to roller skate, please return the attached form. Students who do not have behavior issues and do not wish to skate may attend and socialize at Freedom Roller Rink. Students who have had behavior issues that do not allow them to attend will remain at school during the time their grade level skates. Tat the Teacher: Mrs. Oehlert's 6th grade students improved their reading scores. For each level of improvement, they gave her a new tatoo. What a fun way to encourage growth!

United will host a Girls Basketball Youth Camp for incoming 3rd to 6th graders. Please see the attached form for more details.

UIS staff and students will celebrate our Young Authors Celebration on Friday, May 9th. UIS's unique approach to Young Authors through genres will be evident this week as we recognize some of our favorite genres with DRESS UP DAYS.
Monday will be Humor & Comedy Day- Wear your favorite patterns, big accessories, or bold colors.
Tuesday will be Adventure & Survival Day - Throw on your backpack and camo or sport your camping gear.
Wednesday will be Sports Fiction Day- Sport your favorite jersey or athletic gear.
Thursday will be Word Nerd Day - Strut your favorite t-shirt with words.
Friday will be our Red Carpet Celebration - Dress your best for our celebrity celebration.
