Today, representatives from the Regional Office of Education visited United High School to speak with Mr. Witherell’s sophomore American History students about a variety of career opportunities. The presentation highlighted the education and training required for different career fields and emphasized the importance of developing strong résumés.
Students also had the chance to explore potential career paths firsthand through interactive virtual reality simulations. Using VR headsets, they experienced what it’s like to work in fields such as welding, veterinary science, culinary arts, and more than 50 other professions. The event gave students valuable insight into future career options and the steps needed to pursue them.

The College Board National Recognition Program awards academic honors to high-performing students to help them stand out to colleges and celebrate their hard work. Students from schools nationwide are eligible to claim an award based on their achievement on PSAT-related assessments. By claiming a National Recognition Program award, eligible students have a tangible way to share their academic achievements with colleges and scholarship programs. The School Recognition Award, a new addition that honors the top-performing students in high schools nationwide, was announced this summer. We are excited to recognize our recipients from the Class of 2026. Congratulations to Willow Marston, Ava Howerton, Jalyn Wallace, Elizabeth Hinton and Kendall Mills.
