UIS 6th graders traveled to UJH to get a sneak peek at life in 7th grade. Thank you to Mrs. Stuart, Mr. Higbee, and Mr. Molek for hosting us.

These UIS students are a quarter of the way to 1 million. They have read 250,000 words!

UIS students were tasked with actively working through situations that demonstrated the character trait of the month - cooperation.

6th grade students have been reading about great ancient civilizations. Today’s reading was about Ancient Rome.

SNACK DONATIONS FOR TESTING

As we approach our upcoming testing season, our homeroom teachers are collecting snack donations to help keep students energized and focused. Testing will begin when we return from spring break on March 25th.

If you are able to donate snacks for the classroom, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher for more information.

Fifth grade students presented their research during Black History Month.

These UIS students read 1/2 million words, and they are on their way to 1 million and beyond!

This week UIS students will participate in the 5 Essentials survey. Survey results will be reflected on our Illinois School Report Card. If you do not want your child to participate, please use the opt out form or call the office 309-734-8511.

UIS Students would like to remember Miss Sue on Friday, February 27th. Wear your pink and blue to honor her.

We are so proud of our students who reached the 250,000 words milestone. Keep reading those books!

We are so excited to announce the 1st UIS Spring Musical! We are going to be doing a production called Let’s Walk Together By John Jacobson & Walter Jack. The students who wanted to have reading parts have auditioned and the cast list has been posted. If your child is a reader we will be notifying you. If your child wants to audition for one of the singing solos, they will be able to audition during their recess times on Friday March 6th and March 13th. Sign up sheets for auditions are posted outside the music room starting Friday February 20th. Once those have been decided we will notify families of the soloist. Attached to this letter is the link to the song playlist for students to be able to practice the songs on their own, too. We have about 8 more music class times to learn the songs in school.

The performance dates are as follows:

Friday, May 8th, at 1:45 pm on the UIS stage
Monday, May 11th, at 9:30 am on the UIS Stage

UIS held Valentine Parties on Thursday. Games, valentines, candy, fun...smiles all around!
