Dear United Intermediate School Families,
It is with great excitement that I write this to welcome you and to introduce myself, Nicole Cole, as the Principal of United Intermediate School. I am fortunate to be part of a supportive community that is dedicated to its students. This is an opportunity that I am honored to embark on and partner with you.
My career in education began in 1999 when I graduated from Augustana College with a bachelors in elementary education. In 2020, I graduated from Western Illinois University with a masters in Curriculum and Instruction and again in 2023 with a second masters in Educational Leadership. To say I love to learn is an understatement, and I aim to instill this with our students.
The United Intermediate School building is a familiar setting to me as I am a graduate of Yorkwood High School, and my first four years teaching at United were in this building as a sixth grade ELA teacher. I have also served as a fourth grade teacher and an instructional coach within the district.
When I am not at school, I stay active with my family. I live with my husband, Carl of twenty years, and we have three sons. Mason, our youngest son, is a senior at Galesburg High School. Travis attends Iowa State University. Our oldest son, Eric, lives with his wife and three children.
I believe the education of our students is enriched by the partnership with our families. Therefore, I am looking forward to a fantastic year working together. Additionally, I strive to encourage our teachers to utilize best practices while engaging the students in meaningful learning.
Back Pack Night is Tuesday, August 13th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and the first day is Thursday, August 15th. I am excited to begin this year and get to know all our students and families. Please call the office or email if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nicole Cole
