At the December 14, 2023 meeting, the United 304 Board of Education named Mr. Brian Higbee to serve as the new 7-12 principal starting with the 2024-25 school year. Mr. Higbee will replace Mr. Chris Schwarz, who will assume the role of District Superintendent on July 1, 2024.
Brian Higbee has served the United School District since 2007 as a High School Spanish teacher. Mr. Higbee served in that same role in the previous Yorkwood Jr-Sr High School prior to the annexation in '07. Additionally, Mr. Higbee has served the district as the manager of the West campus bus barn as well as the Region trainer for bus drivers through ROE 33.
Mr. Higbee completed his administrative degree and license requirements through Western Illinois University in 2012 having graduated from Monmouth College in 2000. Mr. Higbee and his wife Emily have 3 children - Madelynn, Kenneth, and Lauren.
